Sheffield United Chairman Terry Robson revealed that the management's switch changed Ahmed Fathi's status in the team as he became out-of-favor with the new head coach.

"Ahmed has been a bit unfortunate in that he was brought in by one management team and was part of their plans, but changes at the top often change player's situations," said Robson.

Fathi was hired by Neil Warnock last January but with Bryan Robson's taking charge of the team Fathi seemed to be out of his plans.

"It's a bit of a shame for the lad but Ahmed wasn't part of Bryan Robson's plans but he has ability and goes back with our best wishes."

After spending eight months with the Blades, Fathi moved back to Egypt signing a four-year-deal with Ahli.
