Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu has been ruled out for up to a month after suffering a dislocated shoulder in Romania's 3-1 friendly defeat against Germany last Wednesday.

The club's official website confirmed the news after the Romanian defender underwent medical tests at the club and that he will be submitted to a program of rehabilitation therapy.

Inter are going to face Catania on Sunday but that's not Roberto Mancini's major concern as he has many options to compensate the absence of Chivu in his backline.

The Nerazzurri manager will have a selection headache when he faces Fenerbahce on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League.

Walter Samuel is struggling with injury while Nicolas Burdisso, Maicon and Ivan Cordoba all have long term Champions league suspensions following the mass brawl occurred against Valencia last season.
