The Egypt midfielder, who joined Ahli from Sheffield on a four-year deal worth £675,000, took part in his first training session with the Egyptian champions.

Fathi expressed his gratitude to Ahli officials for their professional dealing with him.

"They made the negotiations very smooth and treated me very well. I'm honored to join such a prestigious club."

"The only problem for me is that my European adventure didn't last for long," he added.

Fathi will not make his debut with Ahli until January as he linked up with the team after the closure of the summer transfer window.
