Adriano promises to bounce back
Inter Milan out of form striker Adriano vowed to return to his best after a long period of poor displays with the Serie A side during last season.

The Brazilian nicknamed 'The Emperor' turned from one of the world class forwards in Europe to become fifth choice striker for Roberto Mancini's team.

However, Adriano is confident he will be able to retain his position as the top marksman for the Nerazzurri this season.

"I now realise the responsibility of having a nickname like this. I like it but the responsibility increases tremendously," said the 24-year-old in an interview with Sky Italia.

"So you always have to be in top form to handle a name like this, but I will definitely return to being The Emperor this year."

Adriano admitted that his form has been largely influenced by the death of his father several months ago, a blow which caused the Brazilian to turn to alcohol.

The Emperor was left out of Inter's Champions League squad for this season, he also lost his place as a regular in the Selecao roster.

"At that time I really couldn't manage to sleep or do anything positive. I only thought about my problems and I was drinking a bit too much. But I absolutely don't want to start doing those things again," he said.

"I will do everything I can to be back to how I was before. I want to tell everyone that they can still trust me."
