Konyaspor sack manager Saglam

Konyaspor, where Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa and Mohamed Abdullah play, have announced the sacking of manager Nurullah Saglam after the team's dismal start to the new season.

The winless Konya are third from bottom in the Turkish Super Lig, having four points from their opening six games.

Konya, who finished ninth last season, were hammered 6-0 by leaders Galatasaray last week, before drawing 1-1 at home with Genclerbirligi this weekend.

The Turkish club short listed former Cameroon manager Winfried Schaffer as the possible successor to Saglam.

Konya will face second division Urfaspor in the Turkish Cup round of 16 on Wednesday as youth team coach will take charge temporarily.
