The introduction of youngsters Mohamed Ibrahim and Sherif Ashraf rejuvenated Zamalek's attack, yet the strikers lacked the cutting edge.
Zamalek's best chance came through Ashraf 11 minutes from time when his close-range header was denied by the post.
