The Egypt defender was looking for a return to his homeland after growing increasingly frustrated at lack of first-team opportunities with Ankaragucu.

He did not wish to go back to his employers Rizespor and apparently approached Ahli and Zamalek to secure a possible move to any of them.

However, he failed in both attempts and consequently, decided to halt any plans of returning to Egypt.

Saied, who played for both Ahli and Zamalek, insisted his return hopes were not fuelled by his failure to make his mark in Europe.

"Unfortunately some people thought that my desire to join Ahli or my agreement to move to Zamalek were because I failed to succeed in Europe," Saied told FilGoal.com late on Friday.

"These thoughts are completely untrue. I already have several offers from Turkish and Belgian clubs."

Demolished hopes

The controversial defender clarified why he couldn't complete a move to one of the Cairo giants.

"I declared my desire to join Ahli because I wanted to make amends for the problems I caused during my past spell there. Some businessmen who support the club contacted me regarding a possible transfer."

"However, Ahli board members announced that the club do not have any plans of signing me and thus, I closed the matter.

"Regarding Zamalek, unofficial representatives from the club approached me in order to reinforce their underachieving squad but they didn't proceed with the deal," he added.

Saied concluded by stressing that he won't be tempted by unofficial approaches from either Ahli or Zamalek unless a firm offer is being tabled.
