Bayern go five points clear

New Bayern hero Luca Toni scored on both sides of the break as his side defeated Nuremberg 3-0 on Sunday to go five points clear on top of the Bundesliga standings.

New Bayern hero Luca Toni scored on both sides of the break as his side defeated Nuremberg 3-0 on Sunday to go five points clear on top of the Bundesliga standings.

The Italian striker opened the scoring in the 31st minute when he slotted home from close range as Nuremberg keeper failed to deal with Hamit Altintop's free-kick.

Ze Roberto doubled the lead five minutes before the break before Toni hit again with a header in the 81st minute.

Bayern are now on top of the table with 23 points five ahead of second-placed Karlsruhe.

Toni joined teammate Miroslav Klose on top of the scorers' chart with eight goals.
