Brazilian striker Afonso Alves set a new Dutch Eredivisie record after scoring seven goals in his side's 9-0 rout over Heracles Almelo on Sunday.

Alves' goal spree included four goals in ten minutes in the second half, scoring in the 68th, 70th, 74th and 77th minutes.

Former Ajax man Gerald Sibon grabbed a brace to complete an astonishing scoreline, which is only Heerenveen's second win of the season.

The victory is the highest ever in the 87-year history of Heerenveen.

Alves, who has seven caps for Brazil, have not scored before this game, but now he is second in the Eredivisie top scorer charts after Ajax's Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The 26-year-old forward finished top scorer of the Dutch league last season, after his superb tally of 34 goals in 34 games for Heerenveen.
