England captain John Terry could miss his country's crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia through injury.

The Chelsea defender has been sent for precautionary scans on Thursday, the English Football Association announced.

Terry has reportedly had to pull out of training on Wednesday after suffering a knee problem.

The 26-year-old is already set to play with a face mask because of a fractured cheek-bone.

Coach Steve McClaren had already considered resting Terry for the first game against Estonia at Wembley on Saturday since the Chelsea captain would be suspended for the Russia game if he is booked.

England are second in their Group E on 20 points, three points behind leaders Croatia and two points ahead of Russia.
