Egyptian striker Ahmed Hossam "Mido" has been ruled out of Middlesbrough's clash against Manchester United on Saturday because of a groin injury.

Mido won't be available for the game after aggravating the injury he sustained two weeks ago.

Doctors told him that there is no need for a surgery but he will have to rest for one week then start a rehabilitation program that will last for three further weeks.

It means that the Boro new recruit will miss Manchester United, Tottenham and Bolton matches.

"I am very disappointed with such news because we have some important matches and I wanted to be there with my teammates," Mido told FilGoal.com.

"The team has suffered a lot because of injuries especially in the front line."

Middlesbrough could only get a single point from their past five games to drop into the 18th spot in the Premiership table.

"Nevertheless, I have to say that I am very happy to know that I don't need a surgery and so I would be back quickly."

"I won't rush it because I want to be fit for the club and also for Egypt in the African Cup of Nations," added the 24-year old striker.
