Milan's worst start of a Serie A campaign in 24 years prompts just "a little disappointment" according to manager Carlo Ancelotti, who stresses he still sees the silver lining.

The European champions received their third domestic defeat on Sunday, losing to Roma 1-0 at home.

Their tally froze at 10 points in the 13th spot and are almost out of the title race.

"The result is negative, the league position isn't the best, but we have to consider that today's performance wasn't bad at all," Ancelotti was quoted as saying by the club website.

"We must not lose our enthusiasm, our calmness, we have to play like we know and that's the best way to get out of this moment. Certainly there is a little disappointment in the environment."

Mirko Vucinic headed home in the 72nd minute and Roma could have doubled their lead from the spot but Daniele de Rossi's effort sailed over the bar.

Ancelotti said he has to find fix things within the team soon but had the courage to admit he doesn't know the core of the problem in the first place.

"It's a bad moment but we have to find a solution as soon as possible," he said.

"It's hard to find the real problem, perhaps it's the combination of a lot of small things which have to be resolved one by one."
