Egyptian league surprise package Petrojet recorded a thumping 8-0 victory over Suez Cement in the tenth matchday of the competition on Tuesday.

The huge scoreline is the third biggest one in the Egyptian League history.

Port Said-based club Masri demolished Bani Sweif 11-0 in the 1962/1963 season and Zamalek humiliated Helwan Textile 9-0 in the 87/88 season.

Petrojet climbed to top of the table, leveling at 22 points with Al-Gaish, who have a game in hand.

League top scorer Alaa Ibrahim hit a hat-trick on 13, 29 and 83 minutes to take his tally to ten goals in eight game, four goals ahead of his closest rival Hani Al-Egeizy.

Hassan Gomaa (22), Hussein Ali(42), Khaled Bibo (65), Amr Hassan (77) and Mohamed Samara (80) were also on the score sheet to complete the thrashing score line.

Cement coach Abdul-Aziz Abdul-Shafi, who is likely to resign after the defeat, was sent off for protesting early into the second half.
