Wenger has a reason to celebrate

Arsenal secured their place in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage after holding Slavia Prague to a goalless draw in Group H on Wednesday.

The draw took Arsenal’s tally to 10 points and booked them a place in the next stage thanks to their head to head record with Slavia who are in third place on 4 points.

Arsenal coach fielded a second string side that managed to contain the hosts with the least energy.

In Romania, Sevilla edged closer to the next round after a 2-0 victory over Steaua Bucharest.

Brazilian midfielder Renato headed home on the rebound after Christian Poulsen’s initial effort from Jesus Navas’s corner was parried away by keeper Robinson Zapata.

The Brazilian added his second of the night after some swift passing between Daniel Alves and Jesus Navas allowed him to dive and head home from close range five minutes after the hour.

Sevilla are in second place on nine points while Steaua lie fourth with no points.
