High Expectations
The Cairo giants were the dominant force during the past three years, winning every single local and continental competition they played in.
Ahli fans were dreaming of an unprecedented third successive CAF Champions League title but their hopes were dashed by Etoile Sahel.
Their reaction to the defeat was an astonishing one as they threw bottles at Etoile players and even attacked their own manager Manuel Jose.
It was definitely a shocking reaction.
The Portuguese tactician led Ahli to a host of trophies since his re-arrival in 2004 and should be saluted for his efforts regardless of the latest defeat to the Tunisian side.
Ahli supporters should also stand by their players, who gave them many moments of absolute happiness.
They should look at the other side of the world, where real football is played.
In January 2007, Arsenal humbled Liverpool 6-3 in the Carling Cup at Anfield. Nevertheless, the Reds' fans greeted their players after the match, singing "U'll Never Walk Alone" to their beloved team.
Ahli will never be able to regain their strength if the fans do not show their support in the crucial upcoming period.
The five-time African champions aim to win the Egyptian League title for the fourth year in a row, something which would give the fans compensation for the Champions League loss.
