Many have questioned the Egyptian FA decision to play the Arab Games with senior players, believing that their participation will do the Pharaohs no favor prior to Africa's showpiece in Ghana.
However, Egypt skipper Hassan thinks that taking part in the Arab Games on home soil could be beneficial.
"The target is to give new players, who are excelling in the Egyptian League, a chance to prove their worth on the international level," the Anderlecht playmaker told FilGoal.com on Friday.
"More than one player could catch the eyes and earn a call-up to Egypt for CAN 2008."
Meanwhile, Hassan said he is unlikely to depart Belgian giants Anderlecht in the January transfer window.
The 32-year-old, whose contract runs out in the summer, already revealed his intention to leave the Belgian champions, with Cairo duo Ahli and Zamalek tipped to battle for his signature.
There were reports he could make a return to Egypt when the transfer window re-opens in January, but he insisted the decision is not his.
"If any club want me in January, they have to meet Anderlecht's financial requests, which is highly unlikely."
