Scottish striker Peter Lovenkrands partnered Kevin Kuranyi during the past period but Altintop is ready to regain his place and help Schalke bag wins before the winter break.
"I think we'll notch up some more wins before the winter break," he said.
Last season's runners-up Schalke stuttered in the Bundesliga this term as they occupy the seventh spot with 19 points.
