Egypt amassed 31 gold medals in the seventh day of the Pan Arab Games to reach a total of 91 gold medals six days before the end of the tournament.

The host nation dominated Squash, Shooting and Swimming competitions to maintain a comfortable lead on top of the table.

However, Egypt's achievement of four gold medals in Swimming, was overshadowed by a superb record set by Tunisian swimmer Marwa Al-Mathlouthi.

Mathlouthi made history as she took her tally to a total of nine gold medals to break the previous record set by compatriot Osama Mallouli, who stroke seven gold in this year's Pan African Games.

Mathlouthi's achievement makes her in possession of more gold medals than Palestine, UAE, Sudan, Yemen and Bahrain combined together.
