German side Werder Bremen have suspended Boubacar Sanogo and Carlos Alberto after the duo was involved in a scuffle in training.

"The players here are in a position where they have to set an example," Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf was quoted as saying by the club's website.

"We have to get on together and accept one another. Those who behave in such a manner have to accept the consequences of their actions."

Ivory Coast striker Sanogo and Brazilian midfielder Alberto will sit out Bremen's Bundesliga match against Eenergie Cottbus on Saturday.

They won't also take part in training until Sunday, performing specialized jogging program instead.

"We have come to this decision in spite of the current personnel situation. We cannot accept such behavior," Schaaf concluded.
