Panucci opened the scoring after just four minutes but the goal was registered for Mirko Vucinic for almost an hour before the error was fixed.
"I was a little lucky tonight, even if it was a curling cross. At the moment everything is going my way," he was quoted as saying by Calcio Italia.
"I am happy with the goal, but the important thing was the qualification and how the team played."
Roma marched on to crush the hosts 4-1, with Ludovic Giuly scoring a goal and Vucinic netting twice.
Panucci has been in an outstanding for recently, scoring a crucial goal for Italy against Scotland in the EURO 2008 qualifiers and another for Roma against Genoa in the Serie A.
"I have always lived a healthy lifestyle and tried to give 100 per cent, as that is the way to get results," the 34-year-old international said.
"I’ll keep going as long as I enjoy my football."
