The former Real Madrid boss is set to fly to London on Wednesday to open talks with the FA over the England hot seat.
Capello has earned respect from the likes of Manchester United supremo Sir Alex Ferguson, who gave the 61-year-old manager his vote of confidence.
"To manage a national team, you need to be at a certain age, have plenty of experience, presence and an undisputable CV, and I believe Capello is all that," Ferguson told Sky Sports.
On the other hand, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger also believes Capello is the right man for the job, but the Frenchman has a slight doubt over the Italian's language.
"The quality of the candidate is outstanding, no problem, I have known Fabio since a long time, but I am not sure about his English, " said the Frenchman.
Unfashionable Winner
Former Holland star Ruud Gullit, who played under Capello at AC Milan in the 90s, indicated that the veteran coach has his own style of play, but yet he is a winner.
"He doesn't play for the beauty of the game but to win," said the former Chelsea and Newcastle coach.
"You don't see him laughing much - he's moody. But he knows what he wants. You have to go his way or you will get in trouble. He screams at you.
"You need to be well drilled to play for him - very disciplined - and you certainly don't fool around with him, that's for sure."
