Former Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour vowed on Wednesday to return to his post, few hours after being released from prison.

The controversial lawyer spent nine months in jail for verbally abusing Egyptian Chief Justice Sayed Nofal.

Life-long Zamalek fan Mamdouh Abbas replaced him and spent heavily to strengthen the team's squad.

Nevertheless, the Cairo giants were not able to produce fine results in the Egyptian League.

"The period I spent in prison was not a crisis. I won't apologize to anyone, I did nothing wrong," he told Dream TV.

"I was the elected president so I should reclaim my position. My battle with Abbas has begun."
