Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Fathi is set to return to Ahli after taking part in his last match with Kuwaiti side Al-Kazma on Friday.

The former Ismaili man participated in Al-Kazma's 5-4 shootout defeat to Kuwait club after a goalless draw in the second-leg of the Kuwaiti Cup quarter-final.

He converted one of Al-Kazma's penalties but his side couldn't make it through to the semi-final.

After an unsuccessful stint with Sheffield United, Fathi joined Ahli on a four-year deal.

The Red Devils couldn’t register the 23-year-old because they signed him after the closure of the summer transfer window.

Ahli opted to loan him out in order for him to maintain his match fitness.

Fathi will link up with Egypt, who prepare for the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana. He will return to Ahli once the tournament finishes.
