The Alexandria-based club are in dogged search for a striker, and new coach Taha Basri has named the unsettled Gaafar on top of his shortlist.
However, Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas announced recently that the 26-year-old is not for sale, albeit being fifth choice striker for Ruud Krol.
Gaafar seems desperate for first team football as he offered Zamalek EGP 3M in an attempt to buy-out his contract with the club last week.
"We will make another attempt with Zamalek to sign Gaafar," Al-Torki told FilGoal.com on Sunday.
"We also have an eye on Ahli's Abdul-Hamid Hassan in case we failed to get Gaafar."
The 36-year-old Hassan is almost certain of leaving the Reds as he rarely played for Manuel Jose's team since joining from Asyut Petroleum last year.
