Hamburg president Bernd Hoffman denied speculation surrounding the future of Egyptian forward Mohamed Zidan.

"Zidan is not leaving in January," Hoffman told Bild.

"He has a great talent and we can't let him go just after six month."

The 25-year old striker lost his place as a regular starter in Huub Stevens' formation two months ago.

Zidan joined Hamburg last summer for 5.6 million euros and is under contract until 2011.

The club's sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer said Zidan has two chances to bounce back in the team's lineup.

"He should work hard to get a chance in the second round or he could wait for next season especially that we will have a new coach."

Stevens' contract expires next June and Mainz coach Jurgen Klopp, Zidan's former manager, should take over next season.
