Hitzfeld is tipped to take over as Switzerland manager after the upcoming Euro 2008, but the Bayern boss said that he will give his final word by the end of January.

However, Hoeness was quicker to say that the 'General' will not be in charge of the Bundesliga leaders after June 2008.

"In June, Hitzfeld will no longer be our coach," Hoeness told daily Bild on Wednesday.

"You can take it for sure that he will be leaving but not before June."

Hitzfeld enjoyed a tremendous start to the season with the Bavarians, but he has recently fallen out with vice-chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge after a string of poor results.
