Newly-arrived playmaker Mahmoud Samir has been included in Ahli’s 19-man squad for the Egyptian Cup round of 32 game against second division side Asyut Petroleum on Saturday.

Samir will most probably make his debut with the Red Devils after joining from Tersana few days ago.

Ahli snapped up the 24-year-old to have a back-up for star Mohamed Abou-Treika, who also arrived from Tersana in 2004.

Hossam Ashour has been named after recovering from minor bruises he suffered after being involved in a car crash.

Right back Islam Al-Shater will regain his place in Ahli’s starting line-up after recovering from an injury lay-off.

The absence of six regulars due to international duty paved the way for young trio Mohamed Mahmoud ‘Nano’, Mohamed Hegazi ‘Mando’ and Abdullah Farouk to break through.

The full squad:

Goalkeepers: Amir Abdul-Hamid, Ahmed Abdul-Monem

Defenders: Mohamed Samir, Emad Al-Nahhas, Rami Adel, Islam Al-Shater, Ahmed Shedid, Ahmed Adel, Ahmed Sedik

Midfielders: Mahmoud Samir, Hossam Ashour, Moataz Eno, Nano, Abdullah Farouk

Strikers: Ahmed Belal, Osama Hosni, Reda Al-Weeshi, Abdul-Hamid Hassan, Mando
