Bayern Munich denied speculations claiming that they would move for Arsenal out-of-favor keeper Jens Lehmann.

"We have promised Michael (Rensing) over and over again that he would be our first choice when Oliver Kahn retires," Bayern's general manager Uli Hoeness told German TV channel DSF.

The Bavarian giants have been linked with Lehmann, who is set to quit the Gunners after losing his place in Arsene Wenger's lineup.

"It would be relatively senseless to replace one 38-year-old with another, besides Lehmann is not the sort of player to sit on the bench waiting for Michael to get ill or injured," added Hoeness.

Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer also ruled out the move. Lehmann has been linked with Dortmund and Manchester City over the past few weeks.
