Strasbourg coach Jean-Marc Furlan revealed that Egyptian winger Ahmed Abou-Mosallam does not feature in his plans for the rest of the season.

"Things are clear, whenever Manuel Dos Santos is missing, Quentin Othon will take his place," Furlan told Football.fr.

"Othon embodies the team’s future, not Abou-Mosallam," the French tactician added.

Abou-Mosallam was playing regularly under Strasbourg former coach Jean-Pierre Papin but has been snubbed after Furlan took over.

Due to his lack of first-team action, the former Ahli man was overlooked by Egypt coach Hassan Shehata for the African Cup of Nations campaign.

He was close to joining English second division side Crystal Palace in the January transfer window but the deal fell through.
