"CAF have received a fax from Al-Tahrir confirming their withdrawal from this year's Champions League," CAF media officer Sherif Ahmed told FilGoal.com.
"They did not disclose a reason for their decision. I think they pulled out of the competition due to financial troubles."
Al-Tahrir reached the Champions League round of 32 in a similar fashion.
They were due to face Kenya's Tusker but the latter were excluded from the competition due to the country's failure to fulfill financial obligations towards CAF.
Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri said there will be changes in the Red Devils' match schedule for the upcoming period.
"We won't play any competitive match until facing Tersana in the Egyptian League on March 20th," he told FilGoal.com.
