Croatia manager Slaven Bilic revealed that he has been approached by Hamburg bosses to take over from current coach Huub Stevens at the end of the season.

"Hamburg directors offered me the job but we haven't discussed any details yet," Bilic told Bild on Monday.

The 39-year old coach watched Hamburg's 1-0 win over Dortmund, last Saturday, from the stands.

"Believe it or not, I came to watch the Croatian players," he added.

Stevens had already announced that he will leave Hamburg at the end of the season to take charge of PSV Eindhoven.

Bilic had a previous experience in the Bundesliga but things were different as he played for Karlsruhe from 1993 to 1996.
