Egypt goalkeeper Essam Al-Hadari revealed that he will fly to Switzerland on Saturday to join FC Sion after feeling that he is no longer a wanted player at Ahli.

"It is obvious that I have no role here, that’s why I decided to depart," Al-Hadari told FilGoal.com on Friday.

"I returned home to prove that I still want to play for Ahli. Unfortunately, the team’s technical staff has clearly shown that I do not feature in their plans."

The 35-year-old goalie caused an uproar last month when he tried to join Sion without the consent of Ahli.

He later on returned after seemingly learning that his legal stance wouldn’t do him any favor.

Al-Hadari initially thought he would invoke article 17 of FIFA rules which allows players to cancel their contracts after a "protected period".

Ahli took the case to world governing body FIFA, who are holding investigations to decide on which club should own the veteran guardian.
