Vice-president, treasurer positions removed from Egyptian clubs

The positions of club vice-president and treasurer have been eliminated from the board of directors, the Egyptian Higher Council for Sports (HSC) announced on Sunday.

"Every elected club board of directors will be made up of six members in addition to a chairman," HCS president Hassan Saqr told a press conference

"If the president is absent for any reason, the board members will choose a person to fill in for him."

The HCS president will have the right to appoint further two members, who will be among five nominations submitted by the club's board.

The new regulations will not hinder board members from being re-elected when their period in office ends.

"The voters can elect any person for successive periods," Saqr revealed.

Ahli have strongly opposed the new proposals. It remains to be seen whether they will surface their protests after the full announcement of the new regulations.
