Bayern Munich survived an early shock to secure a vital 3-1 Bundesliga victory over Bochum at Allianz Arena on Sunday.

The Bavarians were hit by a double blow in the opening half-hour, when Mimoun Azaouagh put Bochum in front after just four minutes, before Mark Van Bommel saw red for a second bookable offence in the 27th minute.

However, Lucio's header put Bayern back in business five minutes after Van Bommel's expulsion.

The Bundesliga leaders completed the emphatic comeback in the second half as Franck Ribery scored from the spot in the 74th minute, and Christian Lell ensured the victory two minutes from time.

Bayern remain top with 57 points, nine points ahead of their nearest rivals Schalke. Bochum lie 12th with 33.
