Ittihad vice-president Mohamed Moselhi ruled out any possibility of Taha Basri being sacked as the team's coach despite the recent dismal run of results.

"Basri is a very good coach who can lead Ittihad to top-flight safety," Moselhi told FilGoal.com on Wednesday.

Ittihad face the prospect of being relegated to the second division for the first time since the 1961/1962 season.

They lie third from bottom with 23 points, one adrift of the safety zone with five matches to go.

The Alexandria-based club fans were outraged with the team's goalless draw with ENPPI on Tuesday.

They made their feelings known by insulting the players and the technical staff members.

Nevertheless, Moselhi assured Basri that his job is safe.

"Some people are trying to destabilize the club but we won't allow them to do so," he added.
