Milito set for lengthy spell on the sidelines

Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito is facing six months on the sidelines after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament against Manchester United last week.

Barca, who got knocked out of the Champions League by the Premiership champions, announced that the Argentine will undergo knee surgery next week.

"He will undergo arthroscopic surgery to resolve the problem next week, after which time it will be clearer how long he will be out of action. It will be around six months," a Barcelona statement read.

Milito signed from Real Zaragoza for €20.5M last summer, but has hardly impressed for Frank Rijkaard's side.
