Abdul-Zaher Al-Saqqa missed from the spot as Genclerbirligi lost the Turkish Cup title following a dramatic 11-10 defeat to Kayserispor in an extraordinary penalty shoot-out.

Neither side managed to break the deadlock in 120 minutes as the game went to penalties.

A glorious chance fell to former Egypt defender Al-Saqqa to hand Genclerbirligi the cup title for the third time in their history.

Kayserispor wasted their seventh spot kick, paving the way for Genclerbirligi to score their own which would have handed them the title.

However, Kayserispor's Bulgarian goalkeeper Dimitar Ivankov dived the right way to block Al-Saqqa's spot kick.

Ivankov made further superb saves to help Kayserispor lift the trophy.

Genclerbirligi, who were hoping to win their first piece of silverware since 2001, secured their top-flight status in the Turkish Super Lig.
