Swedish-born keeper Rami Shaaban has been tipped for a move to Egyptian giants Ahli to stand between the sticks after the shock departure of Essam Al-Hadari to Sion.

The 33-year old goalie is currently playing with Hammarby who finished sixth of the Swedish league.

‘We are considering a move but we didn’t start talks yet. Manuel Jose has asked to recruit an experienced keeper and Shaaban may be a good option,” an Ahli source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told FilGoal.com on Sunday.

Shaaban, who has Egyptian origins, is Sweden’s second choice and has been picked in the final 23-man squad to play in the Euro 2008.

The Hammarby keeper started his career in Egypt back in 1995 but moved to Sweden where he had spells at Nakka, Djurgardens and Vartans.

In 2002 he made a big move to Arsenal but he suffered a broken foot and had a short spell at West Ham before signing to Norwegian side Fredrikstad.
