Ismaili will play in the Champions League next season despite a 3-1 away defeat to Arab Contractors, who retained their top-flight status.

The Dervishes were competing with Zamalek for the runners-up spot, which brings with it qualification for Africa's top club competition.

Ismaili needed a victory to make sure they would qualify for the Champions League regardless of Zamalek's result against Petrojet as they enjoy a superior goal difference.

They stumbled against Contractors but were helped by Zamalek's 3-1 defeat to Petrojet.

A brace by Salah Maradona in addition to a goal from Mahmoud Samir gave Contractors a priceless victory. Ismaili netted a late consolation through Mohamed Fadl.

Ismaili have not played in the Champions League since reaching the competition's final in 2003.

Aluminum followed Baladeya and Suez Cement to the second division after slumping to a 2-0 defeat to Al-Gaish.

The defeat left Aluminum third from bottom on 30 points as Telecom Egypt were relieved to survive the relegation battle despite suffering a crushing 3-0 defeat to Tersana.
