Klopp and Zidan during their spell at Mainz

Reports in Germany suggested that Mohamed Zidan could be on his way to join Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, following the latter's appointment as new head coach.

German daily Bild stated that Klopp is eyeing his ex-favorite as he prepares for the new season at Signal Iduna Park.

Klopp was in charge of Mainz in the 2006-2007 season, when Zidan excelled under his management to score 13 goals in 15 games for the then-Bundesliga side.

Zidan, who considers Klopp as his 'Godfather', was then acquired by Hamburg last summer, but his first season at Nordbank Arena was anything but successful.

It is also reported that HSV's new manager Martin Jol does not rule out the Egyptian striker's sale this summer.
