Fabio Capello has restored Chelsea defender John Terry to the England captaincy for the friendly against the United States next Wednesday.

The Italian tactician rotates the National team captaincy but would choose a permanent name just before the 2010 World Cup qualifiers.

Terry has been distraught after his decisive shootout miss in last week's Champions League final defeat to Manchester United.

"My decision will have helped to lift John Terry a little bit after Moscow. I made the decision about who would be captain before the Champions League final," the former Juventus and Real Madrid manager told a press conference on Tuesday.

The armband rotates between Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand, David Beckham, Michael Owen and John Terry.

"I think at this moment it is a good decision for John Terry after the not very nice Wednesday last week."

Capello confirmed that Chelsea players must go over the Champions League defeat because it is very important to have them in England squad.
