"Both sides verbally expressed their interest, but none of them tabled an official bid," Mputu told Egyptian TV.

"I learned that Ahli and Zamalek will open talks with me when I arrive in Cairo to participate in DR Congo's World Cup qualifier against Egypt.

"I hope to join any of them. It would be a step forward in my career if I complete such a move."

Mputu caught the eyes after a decent goalscoring run which saw him finish last season's CAF Champions League as the top scorer.

He had a trial with Premiership side Arsenal last January.
