Spain manager Luis Aragones was full of praise for his striker David Villa who struck late to clinch a precious 2-1 win over Sweden on Saturday.

“We were fortunate to have Villa, who scored a goal which was nearly impossible. You look at it from the outside and you say "How did he manage to score that?" Aragones told a press conference after the game.

Villa was set up by Joan Capdevilla and produced some magnificient skill to go clear on goal and hit the winner in injury time.

“I'm not a man who celebrates so it was unusual for me but the goal was so late,” added Aragones.

Sweden seemed doing enough for the draw as the Spanish players couldn’t break through their solid defense.

“It's hard to hold people who are 20cm taller than you. Sweden made us work very hard. You always have to believe in luck, even knowing the difficulties you have in games and that other teams play well.

“I think we were the better side, particularly in the second half,” concluded Aragones.

Spain just need a draw against Greece on Wednesday to secure their place in the quarter finals.
