The Swiss will be aiming to offer consolation to their fans, following a heartbreaking elimination by Turkey last week.
Both sides are expected to make some changes to their starting line-ups, with new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari preparing for the quarter-finals.
Head-to-head:
Switzerland win: 7
Portugal win: 6
Draw: 5
Switzerland
"We feel the same tension we do for any match. The tournament still has 90 minutes to run for us," said Swiss coach Jakob Kuhn.
Team News: Captain Alexander Frei and fellow striker Marco Streller misses out with injuries, but youngster Eren Deriyok has recovered from an ankle injury.
Kuhn, who is set for his last game in charge of Switzerland, might offer veteran goalkeeper Pascal Zuberbuhler a starting role.
Portugal
"If we have quality on the bench we should use it in the match. The result will not affect who we play in the next round," said Scolari.
"We will do what we did in 2006 World Cup– we had a mixture of players who had played and others who had not played – so they can get into a rhythm and be available to play in future matches."
Team News: The Portuguese have no injury worries, but new faces are expected to make their competition debut as Scolari is likely to rest some key figures.
