Egyptian talented forward Zidan has failed to establish himself with Hamburg since joining from Mainz in the summer of 2007.
He was even involved in a dispute with the team's former coach Huub Stevens.
Seeler, the German legendary striker who spent his entire career playing for Hamburg, said Zidan should improve some aspects of his game to emerge a better player next season.
"There is no doubt that he can be a good striker," Seeler, who scored 137 goals in 269 Bundesliga appearances, told Bild on Saturday.
"But he has to be aware that playing for Hamburg is totally different from playing for Mainz. Hamburg have other goals, they always aim to acquire top spots."
Seeler believes Zidan should have an all-round contribution to Hamburg's play instead of trying to show-off.
"Hamburg don't need the showy Zidan," the 71-year-old commented.
