"As far as Zidan goes, he has to focus only on football matters," Jol said in an interview with the club's official website.
Jol was named Hamburg manager, succeeding compatriot Huub Stevens after being axed last season by Tottenham Hotspur.
"We had two Egyptians during my time at Tottenham, so I know their mentality," Jol added.
Egypt striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' and international midfielder Hossam Ghaly have played at White Hart Lane under Jol.
Jol had an infamous dispute with Ghaly, who threw his shirt at the coach's face after being substituted during a league game.
