The Holland playmaker was set to complete a switch to Valencia this summer but the move stalled for some reason and now he believes he would probably stay in the Bundesliga.
"The chance that I will stay at HSV is really big," he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports network.
"As long as no team comes by which makes me immediately excited, I see no reason to leave. And so far none of those clubs have called us."
Van der Vaart's move out was anticipated by Egypt forward Zidan, who was tipped to fill the midfield void next season.
Tottenham Hotspurs manager Juande Ramos is a long-time admirer of Van der Vaart but the player played down joining the North London side.
"The interest has been there for some time already, but they (Tottenham) are not the club I want to go to," he said.
"Tottenham are not a club I want to swap Hamburg for."
