Wigan Athletic striker Amr Zaki hopes he would be able to do well in the Premiership like fellow Egyptians Mido and Hossam Ghaly.

The combative striker joined Wigan on a season-long loan from Cairo giants Zamalek.

He made an instant impact after scoring two goals for the Latics in two pre-season friendlies.

"I just want to play in the Premier League as soon as possible," Zaki was quoted as saying by The Sun.

"I am proud to be a Wigan player and am looking forward to proving myself.

"It will take me some time to adapt but I am here for one year initially and the challenge for me is to stay longer.

"Egyptian players like Mido and Hossam Ghaly have done well in England and I want to show I can do it here as well."

Egypt striker Mido enjoyed a fine spell with Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Middlesbrough last summer.

Midfielder Ghaly put in some promising displays with Tottenham but he fell out of favor with then Spurs coach Martin Jol. His future remains uncertain.
