Mutu to appeal against fine
Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu slammed the £13.6M fine imposed against him by FIFA, as compensation for his former club Chelsea.

The Romania captain tested positive for Cocaine during his 2004 spell with the Blues, after which he was sacked by club and handed a lengthy ban by FIFA.

However, FIFA's dispute resolution chamber ordered the Viola striker to pay the hefty sum after four years.

"This is an unjust and inhumane sentence. We are going to appeal," Mutu said.

"This sanction is not right, because I don't think I have committed a crime that merits such an amount."

It is believed that the World players' union FIFPro and the Romanian Footballers' Trade Union (AFAN) have announced their support to Mutu.
