The Egyptian striker believes Wigan would be able to finance his deal should they dispense with Heskey.
"Wigan coach Steve Bruce wants to sign me to replace Heskey, who received several offers to move on but his departure is not certain yet," Mido told FilGoal.com.
"If Heskey leaves Wigan, the Latics will have the financial muscle to make a tempting offer for Middlesbrough.
"But until now it seems that I will stay at Boro," the former Tottenham Hotspur man added.
Mido previously told FilGoal.com that he considered moving to Amr Zaki's Wigan as he seeks more regular football.
Despite scoring two goals in Boro's first two Premiership games, the 25-year-old is mainly used as a substitute by coach Gareth Southgate.
